Arts, Heritage and Communities

We are funding Arts, Heritage, and Community projects primarily (but not exclusively) in London and Kent. This can range from one-off events through to multi-year projects. Grants of up to £2,000 per-year are available for projects and/or capital items, with awards for three years open to consideration.

Arts and Heritage projects can include; local heritage projects which help local groups to conserve and restore their landmarks, landscape, traditions and culture. Examples of Performing and Visual Arts work are those involved in performances, art, music, and drama activities. Community projects cover work that support their area, bringing together and supporting local people.

 

Funding Criteria

Our eligibility criteria for the programme is as follows:

  • Arts, Heritage, and local Community projects
  • Working primarily in London and Kent
  • Where successful outcomes can be evidenced
  • Projects that show clear public value
  • As much as possible, where the project is run by a registered not-for-profit organisation, with at least one set of audited or independently examined annual accounts*
  • The charity's annual turnover does not exceed £200,000

*If you are not a registered not-for-profit organisation, we may be willing to consider exceptions under certain circumstances. If this applies to you, please contact us to discuss this further.

 

Funding Priorities

The programme has a number of priorities when considering awards:

  • Fully funding requests rather than awarding part-funding
  • A non-exclusive focus on: the City of London, Hackney, Hounslow, and Enfield boroughs in London. Tonbridge and Malling, Tunbridge Wells, Folkestone and Hythe Districts of Kent.

 

What We Do Not Fund

We will not fund the following:

  • Projects that have no community or charitable element
  • Retrospective funding, deficits or loans
  • Organisations which are not a registered not-for-profit organisation
  • Organisations with an annual turnover above £200,000
  • Organisations with reserves of more than 12 months' expenditure
  • Organisations which applied to us unsuccessfully within the previous 18 months
  • Services which are a statutory responsibility
  • Projects that are purely for the advancement of religion or politics (this does not exclude faith-based charities, however we may ask for a copy of a non-proselytizing policy)
  • Overseas work
  • Individuals
  • Projects in hospitals, nursing or residential care settings, which are a statutory responsibility - or for medical research

Before submitting a full application, we ask that the charity contact us by email with a short outline of the project. If you are eligible we will be in touch with full details of how to apply.

Our next application deadline for this programme is: Friday 29th March

Awards

If an award is made, the terms of our grant will be included with notification of our decision. This will include end of year monitoring, with any future instalments of our grant conditional on this.
