Sir Thomas Smythe’s Charity

Individuals Programme

The Sir Thomas Smythe Individuals Programme provides grants up to £250 to individuals for domestic and health related needs. Funding is available only in specific circumstances, and for those living in specific areas of West Kent.

We do not accept applications from individuals directly. Applications can only be made on behalf of the individual by a support agency - such as social and support services, housing associations, refuge and rehabilitation organisations, and local charities.

Funding Criteria

We can consider you for funding if you are living in one of our eligible areas, as defined on the Smythe charity homepage, and if you need support for one or more of the following:

  • Unexpected household repairs
  • Replacing domestic appliances
  • Travel costs to and from hospital
  • One-off expenses such as deep cleaning

And if you are both:

  • Living on a low income (e.g. on a means-tested benefit) and
  • Living in your own home, either as a tenant or owner-occupier

Applications

Applications can be submitted at any time during the year and are considered on a monthly basis, depending on what funds are available. To apply, support agencies should contact our grants team for an application form.
